Cristhian Montoya

I am a Professor of Applied Mathematics at the School of Applied Sciences and Engineering at EAFIT University, located in Medellín, Colombia. My academic and research interests lie primarily in the field of inverse problems governed by partial differential equations, as well as in mathematical modeling, control theory, and numerical analysis related to such equations.

At present, my research projects are focused on the application of fluid mechanics to biomedical challenges. This line of work is part of a broader objective to promote collaboration between academia, industry, and government, with the ultimate goal of contributing to the improvement of societal well-being.

In 2021 I used to be a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Dubrovnik, Croatia, under the supervision of Martin Lazar. Previously, I got a Postdoctoral Researcher of Applied Mathematics (2018-2021), at Institute of Mathematical and Computational Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), under the supervision of Eduardo Cerpa . In addition, my first postdoctoral position (2016-2017) was done at Institute of Mathematics at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México with Luz de Teresa and I got my Ph.D in 2016 in Engineering Sciences Mathematical Modelling at Universidad de Chile with Axel Osses like my advisor. During my doctoral studies, I was at Laboratoiré Jacques-Louis Lions (Paris, France (2015-2016)) with Sergio Guerrero like my mentor. I completed my master studies at Universidad de Santiago de Chile in 2012, and my undergraduate studies in mathematics at Universidad de Cauca, Colombia.
